Over the past few years you may have noticed on your party invitations the phrase Le Maison Chat. We would like to take this opportunity to share with you our guests the true meaning and concepts of Le Maison Chat.

Le Maison Chat was originally the name given to the home of your host RMT. Translated from French to English Le Maison Chat means House of Cats. This name was chosen because of my love of cats. In the spirit of love and laughter it has taken on several connotations during its years of existence. Le Maison Chat is now the men's club associated with the Bear & Boar.

When I moved to Kentucky five years ago I initiated an effort to bring together the men of the area and form a sense of community. Eight Founding Fathers from our community conceptualized Le Maison Chat. Our credo There are no strangers here, only friends we have not met continues to be the driving principle for our efforts and our successes. The major strategy that we have used for bringing men together has been one of group socialization. Through this strategy we have been able to establish a sense of purpose and community.

In the Fall of 2002 we relocated to the Wood Creek Lake are of London, KY and opened the Bear & Boar. The new home of Le Maison Chat will continue the mission of building a community by allowing for the next step in the strategy to be fulfilled. The Bear & Boar, the home of the owner, opens its doors year round to friends and house guests. Many guests and friends may wish to spend the night in the beautiful, breathtaking, lakeside friendly environment. You can do primitive camping, or arrange with the owner to stay in the main house.

Over the past few years the Le Maison Chat/Bear & Boars mailing list has grown to over 900 friends. Men from all over Kentucky and numerous other states have taken part in our social gatherings. We are proud of our progress and hold in high esteem the character of our friends who visit us. Our social gatherings, which have been about six per year, are usually announced in the form of an invitation. In addition to the events at the Bear & Boar we travel several times a year to major events where men meet to visit friends. We organize group travel and share the cost equally to these major events, thus making our travel very affordable.

It is my hope that you now understand the Bear & Boar/Le Maison Chat and the principles on which we exist. Further, I hope that in the near future you will have the opportunity to visit the Bear & Boar. There are no strangers here, only friends we have not met. The Bear & Boar is open to friends and guests year round.
