Wayne and Gary celebrate 13 years of a committed relationship as of Jan. 1, 2002. They got the idea of Gypsy Arms on vacation in 1994 when they were exasperated that they couldn't find places to stay where they could play comfortably. Seattle had no such venue, so they created one. Since both Wayne and Gary have had previous experience in the food and service industry, adding the bed and breakfast idea was a natural step.
Wayne works full time as well as a legal advocate/paralegal who represents veterans before the VA. He has done this for the last 15 years.
Gary's history is a little varied, construction, food service, minister (15 yrs), and self employed for 10 years in his own residential janitorial business.
We count Gary's three lovely daughters as part of our "little family." On occasion you may be lucky to see them at Gypsy Arms.
Wayne is originally from WA D.C.& Florida and Gary from a Minnesota farm (horses, cows, chickens, etc) where he learned to cook from the age of three with his talented mother.
Some specialties: homemade breads, jams and jellies, and homecanned fruits and pickles..a real treat these days! Wayne is no slouch at cooking either since he was the oldest of seven children and was often in charge of the meals.
They were also among the charter members of the Cascade Handball Club which had it unoffical beginning in their then unfinished basement. Gary and Wayne have been active in the communties around them, gay/straight/lesbian/bi, and what they consider important is people who have come to know themselves, their life's journey, and who set out to enjoy every minute of the experience!
