The proprietor of North Crow Vacation Ranch,
Tary Mocabee, tragically drowned on April 2nd of this year. At the age of 49, she could still walk across the patio on her hands, turn around and walk back. We all miss her, who knew her & loved her, who visited her Ranch and who felt nature's bounty here lighten and brighten our lives. Her spirit will always be present with us in the beauty of this place. She offered the rare opportunity to the Lesbian & Gay community for 20 years to be able to vacation in a safe, friendly, spectacular place in the country. This land for which she cared so well, its forest, field and streamside below dramatic mountains in the expansiveness of fresh air, will be a tribute to her hard work and love for years to come. We hope to be able to open North Crow Ranch again next year for vacations, camps, retreats, workshops, spiritual advances, for people who would like to rendezvous in a simple outdoor setting, with a few of the comforts and a nurturing, natural setting. For therapy, yoga, outdoor skills, wilderness first aid, simplicity practice, bird watching, hiking, or for coming together with like-minded folks around the issue or the activity of your choice, we welcome you to plan for the summer of 2002. This summer we will be closed for business due to prior commitments. Feel free to write at this email address to send condolences or to plan for future trips or gatherings. Happy trails. In closing, here are the words of Tary herself...
" I occasionally luxuriate in the sun near one of the tipis, absorbing the sky and birdsongs and feeling a breeze on my body. I am thankful for the pure simplicity this place offers. The way it opens up your senses if you let it--if you slow down enough to let its spirit come through."
